Nora Lee is making waves in the creative marketing field with the fresh and unconventional way they deal with their clients. The company stands out in the field with their “dating” technique, as many agencies like it still stick to traditional ways of working with clients. Nora Lee is challenging its own industry to think outside the box.
Brandt Ricca was born in Gonzales, Louisiana, and moved to Washington, DC in 2011 for a job. Brandt Ricca worked in marketing and events either professionally or in a volunteer capacity before he started his own company in 2018. He named it Nora Lee after his Louisiana socialite grandmother who was a business owner and prominent member in her community. Nora Lee started as an events company based in Washington, DC.
Nora Lee famously debuted on the second annual Allison Gala, a fundraising event benefiting the Triple Negative Breast Cancer Foundation, which Brandt created in memory of a family friend. He also created the annual Mardi Gras Masquerade Ball, which benefited the Trust for the National Mall.
Nora Lee by Brandt Ricca has evolved with many changes like most new businesses and has been featured in the media a few times for it. In 2019 Brandt was feeling uninspired with the photos on his blog featuring his clients and his company’s partners. Because of this, he got the idea to offer creative photography.
Brandt likes to think of the way they work with their clients as “dating” them to get to know them better, such as the things that make them tick and their daily habits. Brandt said, “Once you know who someone really is, the easier it is to tell a story about them through styled shoots in a creative way.” When working with clients, Brandt makes sure he is always encouraging and optimistic. In fact, he is notorious for saying, “Let your creative freak flag fly.” He knows how important it is for their brand image to be clear right from the launch. “I heard once that success is a process and the key is to go with the flow of life and not against it. And that is certainly true in business with the turns we unexpectedly encounter, and we try to highlight that process” he said.
Nora Lee by Brandt Rica has worked with a range of clients, from hotels to doctors’ offices to magazines, realtors, etc. Nora Lee welcomes anyone who wants to tell a story about their brand and brings it to life as stylishly as possible in the exact specifications that the client wants, while making luxury appear attainable.
Recently, Brandt has taken the time out to refocus his business and evaluate its strengths and weaknesses. Brandt is planning to target and exploit any of the company’s opportunities to secure its growth. He has taken full advantage and pivoted Nora Lee to a full-time creative marketing agency offering styled shoots and brand consultation, with events no longer a focus.
