What many social media influencers thought would be the end of the road when the pandemic forced people to go into quarantine turned out to be an exciting challenge for some. What was supposed to be a downtime for their industry, Instagram model and influencer, Tara Electra, turned into a multi-million dollar opportunity even as the rest of the world watched as businesses closed left and right.
Electra is one of Instagram’s most influential personalities, with over 500,000 collective loyal followers from all over the world on TikTok and Instagram. The journey of becoming a high-income earner influencer, however, was not a walk in the park. In the most part of her career, Electra was undervalued by many companies. It motivated her to pursue bigger collaborations, a wider network of influencers, and never to give up on her pursuit of success.
Helping her friends who are also influencers earn millions while in quarantine was only achievable because of Electra’s hard work to establish Unruly, an agency composed of famous influencers. Unruly came to be after many attempts to convince big companies to pay her and her team of influencers the amount that they deserve.
Prior to developing Unruly, Electra put up her own agency known as Electric Mind, a network of influencer relationships that she has carefully nurtured and developed over the years. She successfully struck a deal with Insomniac to execute their first-ever influencer campaign for their EDC Las Vegas festival. Not knowing her real value at that time, she accepted $1,200 as a fee to get as many influencers to post about EDC.
That single initiative generated over 50 million in influencer audiences. Insomniac immediately decided to get Electra as their main influencer manager to bring in more talents for their succeeding events. After a year, Electra was able to pull in more than 500 million story views within 72 hours with the help from her influencer network. As a result, EDC became a sought after event attracting talents from other parts of the world because of the noise that Electra and her network were making, they even added over 30 thousand ticket sales and sold out every festival after her Influencer campaigns.
Her other notable projects involved working with Hard Summer, Coachella, and Rolling Loud. These events with Electra created unforgettable influencer experiences for many attendees. Through Electric Mind, she was able to establish stronger connections with more influencers that would later become her greatest asset when she established the Unruly Agency.
Early on, Electra knew that big companies could take advantage of her network and that her professional relationships with other influencers could easily be taken away from her. No matter how hard she worked, she knew that somebody with a higher position in a company is going to get credit for her efforts. Worst, some of the people closest to her took advantage of her wide network.
Despite the challenges, Electra became even more determined to establish something that would create an unstoppable worldwide ripple. Her perseverance and hard work eventually paid off with Unruly. She has finally established something that she can control, and big companies can take very seriously where it concerns their collective worth.
