In any cutthroat environment, it may take a while for some to reach what they truly desire in life. Especially if one is born with slightly less advantage, one must strive to survive. That is why, for some people, trying to reach one’s dream takes some time, while for some, they may never get to it at all.
However, others are courageous enough to risk everything so that they can have a glimpse of what it feels like to work for something that they love.
Brandon Dixon is one of them.
While working for exhausting twelve-hour shifts in Atlanta, Georgia, Brandon Dixon, passionately worked on his dream of becoming a videographer on the sidelines. Although it seemed taxing to maintain two jobs at the same time, Brandon did not want his dream to die. But when he thought about his future for a while, he did not want to get stuck in a job where he feels unhappy. By the time he decided to focus on his dreams, he then quit his job.
Contrary to what people might think about the risk Brandon took, his transition from his day job to his life-long dream was beyond a success. He was able to engage in multiple business opportunities that led him to be included in the list of the most inspiring business stories to have shifted from an employee to the employer in his own business.
When asked about what strengthened him to make the shift and take the risk, Brandon would attribute it to his passion and dedication of working as a videographer. He said that if one puts in a lot of effort in doing his or her craft, anything is possible.
With the goals that he had attained throughout his life, Brandon wanted to share everything that he did to reach where he is right now. When he started to focus his efforts on videography, no one was there to guide him, but that did not stop him from pursuing it. With the hardships that he went through and the tough calls that he had to make, Brandon could say that everything that he has right now is the byproduct of everything that he went through.
However, Brandon did not want others to go through the same number of blood, sweat, and tears that he had shed throughout his journey.
That is why Brandon started businesses for people who desire to make careers out of using cameras.
The first business that Brandon engaged in is The Entrepreneurship Complex in Atlanta, Georgia, where he was a part-owner of it. It is a content studio and multi-use space designed for various entrepreneurs to be allowed to streamline and develop their businesses in creative ways.
The second one – to which most of his dedication is put into – is the Shooters Camp, where he guides and teaches aspiring photographers and videographers the ropes behind the craft. Shooters Camp was close to home as the business idea stemmed from his lack of guidance when he was still starting as a videographer. With this, he wishes to be a beacon of hope for others to take risks for the things that they love.
